The Inn’s room rates are affordable for both business and leisure travelers. While not offering a business rate per se, the Inn has negotiated rates with local businesses that have an ongoing need to lodge guests at the Cumberland Inn. 4) Do your rates change during the winter? top

Yes, our rates are divided into our slower, winter season and our peak, spring and summer season. Our winter rates are typically in effect from November 1st of each year to March 31st of the following year. Our winter rates are generally 5 – 15% less than they are in our peak season. 5) Do I need reservations for the Athenaeum Restaurant? top

Reservations are not required, but are accepted for all of our meal periods. However, we do recommend making reservations for our busiest time periods such as on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 PM to 9 PM during our themed buffets. Another popular time period is Sunday brunch from 11 AM to 2 PM. Dining reservations can be made by calling (606) 539-4105.

6) Does the Cumberland Inn allow pets? top

We allow small pets up to 20 lbs. in our Hearth & Home facility. The Hearth and Home is a log home available for nightly rentals and can accommodate groups of up to 27 people.


Pets are allowed in the Cumberland Inn in designated pet rooms. A $15 pet fee is charged per room.

7) Does the Cumberland Inn allow alcoholic beverages? top

The Cumberland Inn is located in Williamsburg, which is a dry city in Whitley County, allowing no alcohol to be sold or drank publicly. Also, the Cumberland Inn is owned and operated by University of the Cumberlands, a Christian college affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention. For these reasons alcohol is not allowed on property.

Our Indoor Pool and Spa is reserved for guests whom are staying in the hotel.

9) When did the Cumberland Inn open? top

The Cumberland Inn Museum opened in April 1992. The Cumberland Inn opened in May 1994 and was attached to the museum.

10) What is the relationship between the Cumberland Inn and University of the Cumberlands? top

The Cumberland Inn, Museum, and Center for Leadership Studies were built with private gifts from friends of University of the Cumberlands. The main purpose of the facility is to provide work opportunities for students attending University of the Cumberlands. Another main objective of the Cumberland Inn is to showcase the college through its students who often provide visitors with their first impression of the school.

11) Are most employees University of the Cumberlands Students? top

Approximately two-thirds of the employees at the Cumberland Inn are University of the Cumberlands students. Most of these students work on a part-time basis, to allow time for classes, schoolwork and sports.

12) Is University of the Cumberlands religiously affiliated? top

University of the Cumberlands was founded in 1889 by local citizens who owned coal mines in the Williamsburg, KY area and who wanted Christian educational opportunities for their families. Today, University of the Cumberlands is affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention and has a diverse student body composed of many different religious denominations.
